Where Geography Changes the Answer
Most of Los Angeles County is low radon potential, and most of our tests here come back clean. Three exceptions are worth knowing:
- The southern San Fernando Valley hillsides. Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, West Hills, Chatsworth. Marine sedimentary rock with above-background uranium in the hills, and the state's data shows it. More on this area.
- Ventura County. Considered a high radon area, with over 14% of homes elevated in parts. Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley get scoped differently than anything inside LA County.
- The industrial corridors. Torrance, Vernon, Commerce, the port area, and the former aerospace footprints in Burbank and Glendale. In these areas the governing soil gas question is usually vapor intrusion rather than radon.
